Craftsmanship and materials

A deep crimson ground. Mother of pearl inlay that shifts with the light. A sweeping floral vine motif hand-set across every surface by master artisans in India.

This nightstand stops a room. The iridescent nacre catches light differently at every angle — no photograph fully captures it. The sculpted MOP flower rosette drawer pulls are hand-carved. The interior is lined in the same deep red. Every detail is considered.

Made to order. No two pieces identical.

Care instructions

Bone inlay furniture asks very little. Dust with a dry, soft cloth. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and dry immediately afterwards.

Avoid standing water, and wipe spills as soon as they happen. Bone is porous and prolonged moisture can lift the polish. Never use household cleaners, solvents, bleach or furniture polish, as these dull the finish and can discolour the ground.

Keep the piece out of prolonged direct sunlight, which fades pigmented resin over years. Mango wood responds to humidity, so avoid placing it against a radiator or in a damp room.

Coasters under drinks and felt pads under lamps will keep the top looking new. Handled sensibly, a bone inlay piece outlasts the room it was bought for.

Damage support and returns

Every piece ships fully insured and crated.

If your order arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, contact hello@ikkaza.com within 48 hours of delivery. Include your order number, a short description of the issue, and clear photos of the parcel and item. An unboxing video is recommended because it helps us assess transit damage, but it is not required to make a claim.

We will review the issue and arrange the most appropriate remedy, usually a repair or replacement. If a repair or replacement is not practical, we may offer a refund. We will confirm the remedy with you before proceeding. You do not need to return the item unless we specifically ask you to do so.

Because each piece is made to order in your chosen colour and size, we cannot accept returns for change of mind. This is standard for custom-made furniture. To make sure you are happy before it ships, we photograph your finished piece and send you the images for approval. Nothing leaves the workshop until you confirm.

Questions before ordering are always welcome. We would rather answer them than have you guess.

Shipping, duties and delivery

Shipping is free worldwide on every order.

Your piece is made to order and handcrafted in 2-3 weeks. Our standard production and dispatch time is approximately 15–20 business days.

Once your piece is finished and approved, it is carefully packed and shipped by insured air freight. International transit typically takes 5–15 business days, depending on the destination and carrier.

We ship worldwide, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, UAE, Germany, and many other destinations.

Import duties and local taxes, if applicable, are charged by your country's customs authority and are not included in your order total. Rates vary by destination, and your carrier or customs authority will contact you directly if payment is required.

For larger or trade orders, sea freight may also be available as a more economical shipping option. Transit times are longer, but it can be particularly suitable for multiple pieces or bulk orders. Please contact us before ordering if you would like a sea-freight quote.

Where our materials come from

Bone. We use water buffalo bone, sourced from animals raised for food. It is a byproduct of the meat industry that would otherwise be discarded. No animal is ever raised or killed for its bone.

This is not ivory. It contains no elephant, no endangered species, and no protected material of any kind. Bone inlay has been practised in India for centuries precisely because bone was the material available once ivory was not.

Mother of pearl. The iridescent inner lining of the shell, a byproduct of shellfish harvested for food. Cut and shaped by hand in the same way as bone.

Mango wood. Farmed rather than felled from forest. Mango trees are grown for fruit and cut once they stop producing, so the timber is a secondary yield from land already in agricultural use.

Engineered wood. Used where a surface needs to stay flat. Solid timber moves with humidity, and that movement cracks inlay over time. An engineered panel holds its shape, which is what keeps thousands of hand-set fragments flush for decades.

If you would like documentation of the sourcing for a client specification, we can supply it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real mother of pearl?

Yes. The white sections are hand-cut nacre from oyster shell, not printed, moulded or laminated. You can see the natural variation between pieces in the close-up images, and each fragment catches light differently as you move around the piece.

Can I order a matching pair or set?

Yes, and order them together, an exact colour match across pieces is only guaranteed when they're made in the same batch.

I've never bought from you before. How do I know it's legit?

We've shipped to five star buyers across US and UK, and a real person answers within a day if you want to talk before ordering.

Can you make a size that isn't listed?

Yes. Everything's built to order, so send your measurements and we'll quote it before anything's cut.
